In the planning and implementation of RH2-PTH, WIND-projekt is closely cooperating with reliable long-term partners and institutions. In the following, the main players will be introduced.

Project planner

WIND-projekt Ingenieur- und Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH is an independent engineering enterprise, located in Börgerende near Rostock which has been dedicated to the planning, realization as well as operation of on- and off-shore wind energy projects since 1994.

The company is aiming at the realization of the “cheap kWh” on the basis of clean power generation, the increase of the regional value added as well as at the best-possible integration of their projects under the local general conditions. WIND-projekt nearly exclusively acts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in the region of the German Baltic Sea. In this connection already more than 200 wind turbines with a total power output of 424 MW have been erected on-shore. In the field of off-shore wind power, so far more than 230 turbines with a total capacity of more than 1.000 MW have been approved within various projects. Apart from this schemes, WIND-projekt has already carried out numerous special projects with regard to the establishment of prototype sites as well as to the support of manufacturer sitings. In this field, WIND-projekt cooperates with all major manufacturers of the wind power industry in Germany. Besides the establishing of businesses, the focus has always been the technical development as well as the value added locally.

With a 60% market share ENERCON is the leading manufacturer in wind power plant industry in Germany, delivering wind turbines all over the world. ENERCON employs 12.000 people worldwide and has already erected appr. 21.000 wind turbines. In cooperation with an affiliated company, Fa. Service-WKA Küste GmbH, the enterprise has settled in Altentreptow and has already 50 employees there. The existing establishment (tower erection and service point) is to be strengthened and constantly expanded in the course of the RH2-PTG project.

50Hertz is one of the four major German transmission system operators, arranging the operation, maintenance, planning and expansion of the 380/220kV transmission grid in the North and East of Germany. The 50Hertz system ensures the grid integration of appr. half of all wind power presently installed in Germany and at the same time guarantees a safe power supply for more than 18 Mio people – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. WIND-projekt has been cooperating confidently with 50Hertz for years, among others in the framework of the planning and implementation of the 380kV-transformer station in Altentreptow-Nord, which is also to be connected to the wind turbines of the RH2-PTG scheme.

NOW GmbH Nationale Organisation Wasserstoff – und Brennzellentechnologie (National Organization for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology) is responsible for coordination and controlling of the National Innovation Programme Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP) as well as of the programme “Modellregionen Elektromobilität” (model regions electromobility) on behalf of the federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS). The implementation of the feed-in of hydrogen into the long-distance gas grid is to be promoted in the framework of NIP. The scheme is of Federal interest due to the expected findings with regard to technical and economic aspects of this field of application.

The institute for Electrical Power Engineering (faculty of computer science and electrical engineering) at the university of Rostock under the direction of Prof. Dr. Weber deals with different scientific problems both in teaching and research - e.g. the production of electrical energy in wind turbines and the analysis of impacts on the electrical grid. The institute plans further research among other things on the possibility to build major wind farms with black start characteristics by the example of the project RH2-PTG.
